The last 30 seconds

Bugs don't wait
for record.

Your screen is always rolling past. Notchback holds on to the last stretch, so you decide what to keep after it happens.

Rolling. Press ⌃⌥R or the button above to save.

How it rolls

Three seconds of effort.

−0:30

Always rolling

A small ring beside your notch fills as the last 30 seconds build up. Nothing is saved; older seconds are deleted as new ones come in.

Something happens

Copy puts the video on your clipboard for Slack or a bug report. Claude pulls six frames and writes the prompt for you.

Small app, every detail

Built for the moment after.

Always rolling

The ring by the notch shows how much replay you have. Pick 10, 30 or 60 seconds before saving.

Saves from any app

One shortcut, everywhere. It needs no extra permissions beyond Screen Recording.

Paste it anywhere

Copy puts the video file on your clipboard. Drop it into Slack, Messages, Linear or email.

Hand it to Claude

Six frames plus a written prompt, ready to paste into Claude Code. It reads what went wrong and goes looking for the cause in your code.

Private by default

Lock your Mac or press pause and the buffer is deleted. Nothing is ever uploaded; your screen stays on your Mac.

Light on battery

Hardware video encoding in five-second chunks keeps it light. Choose 15 fps in Settings to roughly halve the cost.

A real Mac app

Swift, no Electron, no account. Settings, open at login, and your recent replays in the menu bar.

Install

Twenty seconds
to rolling.

Open Terminal (⌘ Space, type "Terminal"), paste this and press Return.

$curl -fsSL https://notchback.app/install.sh | bash
  1. It installs and opens Notchback in your Applications folder.
  2. Allow Screen Recording when macOS asks. That's how it sees your screen.
  3. Quit and reopen when asked. The ring by your notch turns red: you're rolling.

Why Terminal? Notchback isn't notarized by Apple yet, so a browser download shows a warning. The script fetches the same app directly and checks its fingerprint. Read the script.

Questions
Is it recording all the time? Where does the video go?
It keeps a rolling buffer of the last 15 to 120 seconds in a temporary folder and deletes older seconds as it goes. Only clips you save are kept, in Movies › Notchback. Nothing is uploaded. Pausing, locking your Mac or quitting deletes the buffer.
How do I activate Pro?
After checkout, the thank-you page has an Activate button that unlocks Pro in one click. The key is also in your email: open Settings › License, paste it and click Activate.
How does "Send to Claude" work?
Coding agents read images, not video. Notchback pulls six frames from your clip, saves them next to it and copies a prompt listing their paths. Paste it into Claude Code and it can look at the frames and search your code for the cause.
Is pasting a command into Terminal safe?
Only from a source you trust, and it's fair to check first. The script is public: it downloads the app from this site over HTTPS, checks its fingerprint and signature, copies it into Applications and opens it. No sudo, no system changes.
How do I uninstall?
Quit Notchback from its menu bar icon, then drag it from Applications to the Trash. Saved clips stay in Movies › Notchback until you delete them.
Refunds?
